Background

The USEPA or US Environmental Protection Agency is the body in the US government which is responsible for:

  • the protection of human health and

  • creating, assessing and enforcing environmental procedures and policies to minimise pollution and thus build a sustainable long term future

EmiDAS and the US EPA

EmiDAS has been developed to comply with the regulations drawn up by the US Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA). This includes the Part 75 Monitoring programs such as:

  • Acid Rain Program

  • Clean Air Interstate Rule (CAIR)

  • Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI)

Measurements

EmiDAS can take measurements at 1 second intervals which exceeds the fastest sampling requirement where opacity readings should be measured at 10 second intervals under the Acid Rain Program. Any user defined average can be setup so the US EPA requirement of 6 minute averages for opacity is easily achieved.

EmiDAS also satisfies the US EPA requirements for data acquisition and storage of reading data for the following measurements:-

  • Sulphur Dioxide (SO2) Concentration (ppm)
  • Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) Emission Rate (lbs/mmBtu)
  • Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) Concentration Rate (ppm)
  • Stack Gas Flow Rate (standard cubic feet per hour)
  • Carbon dioxide (CO2) Concentration (%)
  • Oxygen (O2) Concentration (%)
  • Moisture (H2O) (%)
  • Opacity (%)
