CEMS Software

What is CEMS Software?

CEMS Software is a suite of programs which use multiple formulae and calculations to monitor emissions from a wide range of commercial structures such as boilers, turbines, engines, incinerators.

The use of such software enables numerous types of industries to keep emissions within local and international regulatory limits. The Software can provide reports and alerts to assist the regulation of emissions.

What is monitored?

Anything that can be detected by sensors and can pass the data readings on, can be monitored. This would include pollutants such as:

  • CO (Carbon Monoxide)
  • CO2 (Carbon Dioxide)
  • Hydrogen chloride
  • Mercury
  • NOx (Nitrogen Oxide)
  • O2 (Dioxygen)
  • SO2 (Sulfur Dioxide)
  • THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol)

Also, many other substances or emission flows:

  • Airbourne particulate matter
  • Air flow
  • Dust
  • Fuel flows
  • Opacity
  • Pressure
  • Temperature
  • Volatile organic compounds
  • Water vapour

The monitoring process:

Monitoring is done 24 x 7 through a process of analysers which measure the concentration of substances like the above. Samples of the emissions are taken via pipes etc to the analysing equipment where some elements such as water may be removed to avoid interference with readings.

A calibration system is then used to compare the measurements against standard (published or acceptable) measures. The measured data is then passed to a Data Acquisition and Handling system (DAHS) for storage, further calculations, and reporting.
